before i met my first jw after going off to college, i came from a town of about 3,000 people.
the town is primarily various protestant denominations, catholic, and mormon, but certainly no jws.
as a matter of fact, i hung out with people who had friends of varying religions and denominations, but i never heard anything about a jw.

Yeah, I've noticed they are pretty good about that. When I make a point, they'll immediately turn to a passage in the Bible, which is either taken out of context, mistranslated, or they have read something into it that doesn't belong, or any combination of the aforementioned. Then they'll ask a leading question, and ask if I agree.

Umm... I guess you just proved that the average Christian isn't educated on various topics. Perhaps this is why the negative tone exists. Christians believe they are educated when they prove time and again that they are not.
Sorry. Some of us have better things to do than sit around, do research on every single little thing, and try to prove believers wrong on some message board. If that makes us Christians "uneducated," fine. Whatever.

As for me, I was never baptized, so I wasn't. It's hard to be disfellowshipped when you were never fellowshipped in the first place.

After being thoroughly deceived by people into believing JW's have the absolute truth I vowed I would never believe people without doing research myself.Why would you base anyhing, like the existance of God, on faith at all?
First of all, I was a Christian long before I encountered the JWs. And I only studied with them for a year.
And the first line I quoted seems to indicate you left with a bad taste in your mouth.
That could explain why I'm a believer and many of you are not. I don't have an axe to grind against Christianity based off one group that only makes up less than 0.01% of the population.

When he understands why he doesn't believe in them then perhaps he will understand why we don't believe in his.
Oh, I understand why you don't believe in God. I just don't like the negative tone directed at those of us who do believe. It's not like Christians aren't educated about various topics. In our eyes, the Bible is the oldest book and it's never been proven wrong. Every prophecy in it has come true.
Besides, if you honestly believe that there is no God and no resurrection, then what do you have to gain by trying to convert me and show me these so called facts? Sounds to me like you're wasting time.

So every believe must be based on fact? That's just plain sad, especially as someone pointed out, there are other beliefs that rely heavily on faith. If you expect everything to be presented in black and white terms, then you're in for a miserable life. It just doesn't work that way.
And thank you for putting words in my mouth. So because I believe one way, that makes me "close minded?" Again, us Christians aren't uneducated idiots. I know about other religions. I've taken a class on major world religions. I know basically what they all believe. I just don't agree with them. I pick Christianity. Would I be close minded if I was Buddhist and didn't consider Christianity? Or is it because you all are still holding a grudge against Christians because the JWs proved to be elitist morons? Get over it. There are a lot of groups out there that are a lot different. As a matter of fact, what they call Chistendom rejected them from mainstream Christianity because they don't believe that Jesus is God.

Don't people who "wouldn't change their mind no matter what" deserve ridicule? Belief should always be based on the best available evidence.
No. You're asking people whose religion is based primarily on faith to prove everything they believe black and white. Sorry, but Christianity doesn't operate that way. It's not a scientific theory. It never was intended to be. It's like trying to compare apples to oranges.
And I never was a dub. I only studied with them for about a year. I still had the same fundamental core beliefs.
